Intro to Bowenwork

Bowenwork is a relaxing and effective bodywork therapy technique performed over specific points on the body with the therapist’s fingers and thumbs. These gentle moves initiate full-body re-balancing and healing via the fascial (connective tissue) network and nervous system.

While Bowenwork therapy is gentle, it works deep and affects the body at a cellular level, encouraging full-body homeostasis. Following a treatment, you will likely feel as relaxed and refreshed as if you had just received a massage, and you may notice that the effects are more profound and long-lasting.

This amazing technique has helped countless worldwide with many conditions such as: aches, pains, sore muscles, poor posture, stress, anxiety, depression, headaches, asthma, insomnia, hormonal conditions, cramps, pelvic misalignment, sacral pain, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, scoliosis, sciatica, knee and leg pain, plantar fasciitis, bunions, hammer toe, and many more.

This therapy is so incredible and as a receiver and practitioner, I have witnessed so many positive results that I’ve given Bowenwork its own page and FAQ.

Intro to Massage

Our massage sessions will be customized to your health goals and utilize a combination of Swedish massage and deep tissue techniques depending on your concerns and preferred manual pressure.

I specialize in gentle bodywork and can be as light-handed as you need, but I typically work light to medium to deep; warming up the tissue first with light-medium pressure techniques, and then focusing on deep tissue techniques in necessary areas such as trigger points. However, I do not use a constant deep and heavy pressure.

Swedish massage uses a variety of relaxing strokes and techniques such as rocking, jostling, effleurage, petrissage, kneading, friction, tapotement, and stretching to accomplish a variety of physiologic and psychological effects that positively impact the body, mind, and heart. It is a luxurious and beneficial treat for the whole body that helps bring about in the client:

  • relief from: stress, anxiety, depression, imbalance, cramps, constipation, muscle spasms, tension, knots, soreness, stiffness, headaches, backaches, pain, and injury

  • improved: circulation, red blood cell count, hormone function, bone repair, respiration, kidney function, skin elasticity, range of motion, mood, sleep, energy levels, and cognitive functioning

  • an increased rate of healing, decreased inflammation, healthier immune system, toxin removal, improved lymphatic uptake, and reduced edema

  • increased serotonin and dopamine, decreased cortisol (equals increased relaxation and a state of well-being)

  • greater awareness, peace of mind, confidence, and mind-body-soul balance

Deep tissue utilizes structural integration techniques, trigger point release therapy, myofascial releases, and stretching to relieve sub-acute and chronic pain caused by exercise, sports, minor and major injuries, vehicle accidents, surgery, carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, child and animal care, strenuous work, long periods of standing or sitting, gardening, compromised posture and body mechanics, and more.

Deep tissue tehcniques are often beneficial to those seeking to prevent injury and maintain muscle integrity, flexibility, and strength. An ice pack can be applied during and after session to decrease inflammation and alleviate the discomfort that may arise from deep pain and deep work.
