COVID-19

(Updated 1/1/23)

Despite the mask mandate lifting for Washington State on March 12th, 2022; masks are still required by healthcare providers and their patients/clients in healthcare settings. Thank you for understanding. I will let you know as soon as the Department of Health no longer requires we wear masks.

I am currently vaccinated against COVID-19.

On 1/17/21 I received my first round of the Moderna vaccine.

On 2/14/21 I received my second round of the Moderna vaccine.

On 11/17/21 I received my third round of the Moderna vaccine.

On 12/31/22 I received my updated booster (Moderna).

While appreciated, you do not have to be vaccinated to patron my practice.

I just require that you wear a mask.

In regard to COVID-19 and other contagious air-born viruses, massage therapy is a medium risk setting. Because of that and my position as a healthcare provider, I am strictly following guidelines set by the Center for Disease Control, Washington State Department of Health, and Washington State Massage Therapy Association so as to keep everyone that comes through my treatment room as safe as possible.

The following policies and procedures MUST be followed to receive treatment at Kokoro Massage. If you are unable to meet these requirements, I completely understand and support your decision to return to my practice when you feel safe and comfortable.

  • You must wear a mask at all times in my office, even on the treatment table. I understand this is not the most comfortable and I thank you for your understanding. If you are unable to wear a mask, please wait until you can or until masks are no longer recommended. Try and bring your own mask, though I have them available if you forget. I also have a spacer to put underneath your mask (that you can keep) that gives you a little more breathing room behind the mask and on the table. Ask me about it anytime. I will always wear a mask.

  • While it is appreciated, you are not required to be vaccinated to patron my practice. But you do have to wear a mask.

  • In order to minimize the spread of COVID and other illnesses, most of my scheduling, intake, payment, and follow-up procedures have been moved online via the secure and HIPPA-compliant cloud-based intake platform, intakeQ. If you are unable to use this website or decline to, please contact me and we can discuss alternatives. There is a lengthy initial intake form for new clients. In addition, you will have to submit a COVID-19 release and session goals form before each session. There is also an optional follow-up form after each session. I know it's a whirlwind of online forms, but this not only reduces the spread of illness, but also streamlines appointments, improves treatment, and gives you more time on the table. I ask that you complete the required forms before your appointment.

  • If you have caught COVID or any other contagious illness, we must cancel our appointment and wait for you to test negative and no longer be contagious before we can work together. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes you, but please understand I take the spread of all illnesses very seriously. Please do not come in to my office sick.

  • If you or anyone you have been in contact with in the past 10 days exhibit symptoms of COVID/flu/respiratory illness, I prefer we not meet for our appointment until you and your household are in the clear. If you exhibit symptoms we must reschedule and I strongly encourage you to contact your primary care provider for further assistance. Symptoms include: fever, chills, body aches, cough, sore throat, congestion, runny nose, wheezing, shortness of breath, fatigue, discoloration of feet, new loss of taste or smell, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, etc. Be aware that many people are asymptomatic and tests are not always right, but we'll all just do the best we can to keep each other safe.

  • If you wake up the morning of your appointment with coronavirus/cold/flu symptoms we must absolutely reschedule. Just please notify me as soon as possible.

  • Please check your temperature before coming in. Do not come into the office if you have a fever of 99+.

  • When you arrive for your appointment, please wait in your car, outside of the building, or on the benches in the building and text (360)306-0191 when you’re ready. I will text you back when you may enter the office. I often text 10 minutes before appointment start time if I'm on schedule.

  • You may bring your belongings inside: purses, jackets, water, etc. In fact, I encourage you to bring your own water as I am not supposed to offer it in the room. I want you to be hydrated!

  • I appreciate if you wash your hands before entering the room, or feel free to use the hand sanitizer provided.

  • I, the practitioner, change all linens and clean all surfaces thoroughly with hospital-grade disinfectant between every client. I wash my hands and forearms thoroughly before, after, and sometimes again during a treatment. Please be aware that I do not disinfect the bathrooms. This is handled by a janitorial staff.

  • I, the practitioner, will never work on a client if I am experiencing even the slightest symptoms of COVID or any other contagious illness.
